MANILA, Philippines – Tropical Storm Tino (international name Kalmaegi) entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Sunday morning, according to the state weather bureau. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tino entered the PAR at 5:30 a.m.
Tino was last located 1,230 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, moving west-northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), Pagasa recorded. The tropical storm has maximum sustained winds of 85 kph, with gusts of up to 105 kph. According to Pagasa, Tino will likely intensify into a severe tropical storm on Sunday evening, then into a typhoon on Monday morning.
